This time it is for real! Repaving NW 85th Street

by Olivier on January 4, 2012

Happy New Year to all of you! I wish you and all whom you care for a healthy and happy year 2012!

For the New Year, the Seattle Department of Transportation is giving us a new road! NW 85th street is in need of help. Pot-holes are large enough to swallow a small car and traffic patterns seem inspired by some twisted mind game. This is all about to change. NW 85th Street is being repaved from 15th Ave NW to I-5.

Of course, the price we all need to pay for this improvement (beside the financial aspect of it all) is a fair amount of traffic disruption. The first phase of the project is from 15th Ave NW to 8th Ave NW and should last a few months. During that time, NW 85th street is closed to Eastbound traffic (towards I-5). Also, the street will be difficult to cross in any directions.

Your best approach is to come take NW 80th street and turn north on 14 Ave NW. You can park behind the building in any spots other than those reserved for the doctors of the clinic next door. In any case, remember to breathe, select your favorite radio or music program and give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment.

I will post updates on the traffic regularly on this web site. For more information you can check the DOT’s web site at www.seattle.gov/transportation/pave_85th.htm.

Thank you for your patience!
